Virat Kohli racked up his 100th half century in T20 cricket after racing to the milestone at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Sunday while guiding Royal Challengers’ Bengaluru’s chase of 174 runs in an Indian Premier League clash against Rajasthan Royals. Thanks to the half century, Kohli now also has 66 scores of 50+ runs in the IPL, which makes him the batter with the most 50+ scores in the league along with Australia’s David Warner.
Kohli got to the milestone in some style as well, dancing down the track to smash Wanindu Hasaranga’s delivery over the Sri Lankan’s head for a maximum.
Thanks to Kohli’s unbeaten half century score and Phil Salt’s 55 off 33 balls, RCB chased down the target by losing just one wicket with 15 balls to spare. Kohli ended the game with an unbeaten 62 off 45 balls, a knock which had four boundaries and two sixes.
Kohli was given a reprieve from Rajasthan Royals’ Riyan Parag, who dropped him early on. Kohli made the most of the chance and made RR pay.
